By Amy Kuperinsky | NJ Advance Media for NJ.com After starting a cross-country walk in Asbury Park this past April, singer-songwriter Mike Posner has been bitten by a rattlesnake.Posner, 31, sustained the snake-related injury in Colorado on Wednesday and was airlifted to a hospital. “I knew walking across America was going to be dangerous,” Posner posted on Instagram Sunday. “I knew I could die doing it. I still might. So don’t feel sorry for me. I’m proud I’m in this hospital after chasing my dream and not sitting on the couch watching Netflix. I’m proud of this pain. If you understand this message, do not leave me sympathy comments, just write KEEP GOING.”The “I Took a Pill in Ibiza” singer also shared a freestyle video with lyrics about wasting time on social media.Caution: video contains expletives. Posner has been documenting the aftermath of the snake encounter for fans.“Crazy day yesterday!” Posner tweeted on Thursday with a video showing him being wheeled from a hospital room on a stretcher. “I had just crushed 16 miles and was going for 8 more when I got (bit) by a baby rattlesnake!” he said, gamely posting a green snake emoji. “That venom is no joke! I got to the hospital and got the anti-venom in time.”“From 24 miles per day to using this walker to get to bathroom,” Posner tweeted on Saturday, sharing a video of him balancing on a walker in the hospital. “I’m on my way back. Gonna rebuild with patience and equanimity.” After the snakebite, Posner looked on the bright side: he said he appreciated the chance to luxuriate in air conditioning and a bed. “Shout outs to G and Mike from the chopper team and Bo and Cassie and Whitney (my nurses),” Posner tweeted on Thursday. “I’ll be here a few days and will not be able to walk for several weeks but enjoying the AC and the nice bed, haven’t had those in a while Hahahaha!” “Can’t wait to get back on The Walk!” he added. “KEEP GOING!!!!!!”Posner intends to end his 3,000 mile journey in Venice, California.In a video posted from Venice in April, Posner, who had just healed from a foot injury, said he wanted to go on the walk because “life is better with adventures.”“I’m walking to become a better person,” he said. “I’m not walking to show people who I am. I’m walking to find out who I will become.” Posner’s first hit song was “Cooler Than Me” in 2010, which hit No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100. In 2016, Posner’s song “I Took a Pill in Ibiza” reached No. 4 on the chart.The singer has said that every time he crosses a state line on his walk, he will release a song. On July 11, when Posner crossed from Missouri into Kansas, he posted a song with Ty Dolla $ign.
